Does it snow in Olympia, Washington?

Sometimes! A typical winter in the Olympia area may only have a couple of inches of snow during the season, or like this year, over a foot of snow will dump!

The month that most likely will bring snow is February, and this year, didn’t disappoint.

Check out my short video and see some drone footage as I fly over my house and over the tree tops. It’s pretty if you don’t have to go anywhere!

Do they plow the roads in Olympia?

They do but we don’t have a fleet of plows because we usually just don’t get enough snow and for a long period of time. The cities do have online maps showing what main arterials they will plow and treat. Here is Olympia’s information on where they plow and how streets are cleared and treated.

Roads here are treated with sand for tracking and an anti-icing agent but the roads will still have compact snow and ice, which still makes them slippery and hazardous to get around. Plus with all of the hills we have here, driving and plowing make it all the more challenging.

When it snows, since it usually doesn’t last for more than a couple of days, it’s best to just stay home and wait for it to melt.
